This retreat is for you if:
- Self-reliance is your thing—your badge of honour, your superpower. You wear it with pride even though it's battered, tarnished, and hasn't had a day off in years. You do everything yourself because asking for help feels like weakness or a burden, so you carry it all alone, and you're drowning.
- Over-giving isn't just what you do, it’s your middle name—or at least who you think you are. Take it away and you genuinely don't know what's left. Helper, fixer, the reliable one... without it, you feel empty, purposeless. So you keep giving even when you have nothing left.
- You're the one holding all the balls in the air, and you're really good at it—circus-level good. Except there's no audience, no applause and no acknowledgment—just you, alone, terrified that if you drop even one ball, the whole performance comes crashing down and everyone will finally see “you couldn't handle it”.
- Perfectionism is just how you operate—so default and automatic that you don't even see it anymore. And if someone pointed out the damage caused by this trait, you probably wouldn't believe them because perfectionism keeps you safe. If you do everything right, you can't be criticized, rejected, or found lacking... except you're exhausted, and it still feels it’s never enough.

The Rooted Retreat is an immersive 4-day/3-night experience designed to help capable, high-achieving women break free from the cycle of burnout, overwhelm and disconnection. I will guide you through a powerful process of embodied healing, nervous system regulation, balancing of masculine and feminine energy and deep reconnection to reawaken your
innate vitality, joy, and inner wisdom.

Through The Slow Way, a somatic eating & lifestyle ethos, Nicholas’s offerings will nourish the gut, calm the nervous system, and awaken the senses—creating deeper connection with life. The food will include nutrient-dense, clean vegetarian cuisine.

The rhythm of each day will offer both depth and spaciousness — a balance of teaching, shared inquiry, and somatic grounding through movement and nervous system regulation. I felt like a failure. As mother, wife, therapist, friend and daughter. After five years of trying everything, I had a revelation: my burnout, overwhelm, fatigue, and increasingly small life weren’t about working harder or doing more. They were tied to the multiple ways I had adapted myself to feel safe and enough, and how those survival patterns were dysregulating my nervous system, destroying my health, and keeping me from my potential.
This was the turning point for me and from there I began to step back into true balance, power and health.
Because of my experience I realised I wanted to support women to be the powerful, creative, passionate, shining, beautiful beings they truly are rather than them trying, and often failing, to fit the mould of distorted masculine “success”.
And that is what I have been doing ever since with increasing joy, ease and flow….!

No, transport is not included in the cost and will need to be arranged by you. However, if enough participants are coming from the same area within South Africa, we’ll help coordinate shared lifts or a shuttle option (at your own cost). This approach not only makes travel more affordable but also creates an opportunity for connection before the retreat even begins. So once you’ve signed up let us know if you are open to shared transport and let’s see what we can arrange.
Yes, that’s correct. Experience has shown that women experience deeper, more profound transformations when they gather in a supportive, exclusive environment. Nicholas will only be present to prepare, and guide the slow feast experience at meal times and to guide the Somasensing sessions, ensuring you have a deeply feminine, nurturing space to explore your healing and potential.
Yes, but with intention! WiFi is available in a specific area near the main house and reception at Outeniqua Mountain Lodge. This isn’t about complete disconnection, but about creating intentional space for your transformation. The limited WiFi access is actually a gift – it allows you to step away from constant digital distractions and truly tune into yourself.
We’ve intentionally kept this a smaller, more intimate gathering with a maximum of 12 participants. This isn’t just a number – it’s a carefully crafted container for deep, personalized transformation. A smaller group means more individual attention, deeper connections, and a more profound shared experience. You’re not just attending a retreat; you’re joining an exclusive circle of women committed to healing and growth.
We invite you to approach this retreat as a sacred space of healing and transformation. While we understand these are personal choices, we strongly recommend staying “clean” during the retreat to support your deepest healing. We ask that you refrain from bringing any alcohol or substances with you and, If you must smoke, please do so outside and away from others. This isn’t about restriction – it’s about creating the purest, most supportive environment for your personal healing journey.
